  • What a wonderful experience meeting such a great group of ladies of all ages, and sharing together in song! I have not ever joined a more caring, delightful group in all my years of committees and organizations. All eager to help and make you feel part of the group, even the ability to read music is not a requirement. The joy of songs, singing, and new found friends and fellowship is back in my life through White River Sound Chorus!

"I grew up with Barbershop music being sung around me from as early as I can remember. My father sang in a men's quartet and chorus all of my life and my mother directed a Sweet Adeline's chorus for a few years. They looked like they were having a great time with people who loved to sing. As I grew up I sang in church and school and a traveling singing group. After I was married I continued to sing in church but had forgotten about the life of Barbershop. I was singing in church and I was singing harmony with a friend next to me and I mentioned how much I love to sing in four part harmony. She asked me if I'd ever considered singing with Sweet Adeline's? I said, yes! I went to a guest night and I was immediately hooked! I couldn't wait until the next week! I love singing with the women of White River Sound. These women love to sing but they also love one another and desire to help me grow as a person and as a singer. I've never experienced this kind of kinship and connection before and I just love it! I am so glad someone asked me to come and experience Sweet Adeline's!

Being a part of WRS chorus is about the love of singing an interesting variety of songs in harmony with many talented women of all ages and backgrounds. As a "newbie", I have felt welcomed, valued, and uplifted as my sisters in song have helped and encouraged me to learn and grow as a member of WRS.

But there is more to it to me. It's about being part of a "community" of women who not only love to sing, but who care deeply about one another. They care, not just through words, but through action. I recently had hip replacement surgery and was thrilled and very appreciative to receive more than 30 get well cards from my WRS pals, not to mention calls and food brought to me and my husband. Now that's what I call caring!! And I couldn't be happier to be part of such a warm, caring, and talented group of women who love to sing barbershop.
